I am Olena

Registered Psychotherapist based in Toronto, Canada

Therapy available in English, Ukrainian, and Russian

For over twenty years I’ve been studying how people think, feel, and respond to life’s challenges — through research, real-life systems and my own journey.

For seven years I help people understand their patterns and create lasting change.

My Path Into Psychotherapy

My path into psychotherapy wasn’t linear, and in many ways it shaped how I work today.

Then the war forced me to leave my home country and rebuild life from scratch in Toronto. That journey gave me a lived understanding of adaptation, resilience, and survival mechanisms.

Before becoming a therapist, I studied economics and engineering, earned a degree in public administration, founded and led a charitable foundation, and managed an organization with eighty people. These experiences taught me how people function under pressure and how relationships work inside complex systems.

From a young age I was curious about people and what shapes who they become. That curiosity became deeply personal in my early twenties when I went through a painful experience. Trying to understand why that happened, I spent years reading, observing, and studying psychology and human behaviour.

How I Approach Therapy

One of the things I bring to our work is an analytical and structured way of understanding complex situations — combined with compassion and a deep attunement to your experience.

My approach is informed by neuroscience and focuses on how your brain, body, and nervous system have learned to work together over time. I use different therapeutic modalities to support your unique needs.

Every person is different. Some need clear structure and practical steps. Others benefit from deeper exploration or reconnecting with their body. I adapt the work to what actually helps you understand, feel better, and move forward.

Instead of focusing only on separate symptoms, we look at your system as a whole — and gently restore the balance that has been disrupted. The pace and direction are guided by how you respond, so the process feels relevant and safe, never generic.

As things become clearer, change begins to happen more naturally — as your system returns to a calmer, more balanced way of functioning.

My goal is not only to help you feel better now, but to help you understand yourself deeply enough to navigate future challenges with greater awareness, flexibility, and confidence.

If this approach resonates with you, explore how I can help with anxiety, trauma, intimacy, and life transitions.

Therapeutic Modalities

I draw on different therapeutic modalities depending on what will serve you best.

Each modality offers a unique way to understand and work through your experience — whether through thoughts, emotions, or the body.

Psychodynamic

Helping you understand the deeper patterns that were shaped by past experiences and still influence your life today.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Identifying unhelpful thought and behaviour patterns and learning to shift them in practical ways.

EMDR

A highly effective method for processing trauma and difficult experiences so your brain can finally “file them away” instead of keeping them on repeat.

Solution-Focused

Building on your existing strengths and focusing on clear, practical next steps that move you forward.

Symboldrama

Using guided imagery, symbol analysis and somatic (body-based) work to access deeper layers of your experience in a gentle and creative way.

I always combine these modalities with a strong focus on your nervous system and restoring balance.

The goal is never to apply a “one-size-fits-all” method, but to create a process that feels safe, relevant, and effective for you.

Why I do this work

What I find most meaningful in this work is seeing real change in people’s lives.

Moments when something becomes clearer, when the inner pressure softens, when a person begins to feel more like themselves again.

This work is not always easy, but it feels deeply aligned with who I am and the path I have been building over time.
